DESOTO SQUARE DANCE CLUB NEWSNote: Dances start at 7:30 and square dance attire is the dress code. Club dress is tradionally worn on the first Thursday of the month. During the months of June, July and August casual wear is permitted. Lessons will be starting January 15th from 5 to 7 in the Coronado Center. We will need angels as well as students.
Approximately 75% in attendance at the Halloween dance came in costume, leaving the remainder to judge. Winners were Jean Carter and Pat & Al Bowles:

Thank you, Sue Sutley and her committee for a great picnic! Even the weather was outstanding! Before we delved into the delicious potluck dinner, we square danced with Dave Towry calling. Gordon White called a guest tip. Several Desoto Dancers attended the ASSDF dance in Fort Smith, AR. Pictured left are Bowles and Sutleys in back, and Whites, Bazemores and Woods in the front. We had a fun Career Day Dance on August 28th. Dancers enthusiastically participated. It was fun to discover what our fellow dancers had done in their working lives. For some pictures, please click here. On May 22nd, we honored our vets shown below.
June 26th was our "Red, White and Blue" dance.
![]() The new officers elected at the annual meeting were: President: Ken and Jan Koepp; 1st Vice- President, Harold Randol; 2nd Vice-President, Sue Sutley; Treasurer, Wayne & Rae Tondro & Paula Alan; Secretary, Victor & Mary Green; Publicity, Fran & Bill Bazemore. At this meeting, it was voted to raise the dues to $110 per year per person ($55 for a half year). Dues are now payable. Guest fees are now $4.00 per person. Refreshment Assignments: The Sweetheart Dance was very successful, raising $5,188 for The Caring Place. Thanks to all that contributed, especially the Krabbes, Randols, Bunny Johnson, to name a very few. To see pictures of the 2008 dance, click on "Sweetheart Dance Pictures" in the left column. The club is set up with Cranford’s foods for some free money. Bring in your receipt and we get a 1% kickback. George Hagele, the Carpet Cleaner is giving club members a discount when he cleans their carpet. He has been cleaning carpets full time for more than 25 years. Call George at 501-321-3519 DeSoto Dancers regular meeting is Thursday evening from 7:30 PM to 9:30 PM at the Coronado Center with Dave Towrey calling the squares.
